To success Intelligency I still can't believe it - it turned out to be so powerful. But as often happens with artists from the post-Soviet space, it was not possible to shoot immediately. The band was formed in 2013 and managed to release two EPs and one full-length album before the appearance of their main album hit August.
Now the band from Belarus has released the first full-length album in two years The Ideals, which includes 16 tracks, which sounds like their signature style, but at maximum power.
Melodic vocals, familiar synthesizers and techno are still in place, but now the music is enriched with elements of light drum'n'bass. This is still the same intelligent electronics, but with increased energy and in a much larger volume. Here's what about the band's new work.
"This is our main work since the album, where the very August was released, which made us popular outside Belarus. And in general, probably, for his entire career. Usually we try to write 11-12 tracks, select them harshly so that everything conditionally fits on one vinyl record. And then there were 16 tracks, and my hand did not rise to throw out a single one", says Intelligency frontman Vsevolod Dovbnya.
Recall that the song August, which brought the band world fame, was released in 2019. On the network, this track was superimposed on a video where TV presenter Jimmy Fallon and actor Benedict Cumberbatch are dancing and it went viral.
August hit the Apple Music chart and stayed at number one for several weeks. Several labels wanted to collaborate with musicians at once. And they wanted it so badly that they offered two million Russian rubles in hand. As a result, Intelligency opted for Warner.
Now the English version of the track August has more than 38 million streams. In 2023, the musicians released a Belarusian-language version of the viral song.
