A new episode has been released on the Gay Talk YouTube channel, in which the guests discussed wedding preparations, experiences with polyamorous relationships in New York, and how parents from conservative countries react to their sons coming out and living in the U.S.
The episode’s featured guests—Darkhan and Mitya—share personal stories about life as immigrants. The main topics were the upcoming Darkhan's Wedding, his plans to introduce his parents from Kazakhstan to his partner's family, as well as a discussion of New York's sex culture, including parties with 400 guests and the use of dating apps.
Darkhan, who lives in New York, said he has been in a relationship for four years and is planning to get married next year. Darkhan’s parents live in Kazakhstan, while his boyfriend’s parents are currently in New York. In August, the families plan to meet each other to “see how things go” before the wedding celebrations begin. Darkhan mentioned that he came out to his parents about five years ago. He recalled his mother’s fears: she thought that upon arriving in the U.S., she would see “dildos hanging on the walls” in his apartment, but in the end, she was reassured by her son’s “ordinary” lifestyle.
It turned out that this would not be Darhan’s first marriage. He had previously been married to a Mexican friend of his. It was an act of kindness—Darkhan’s friend had been living in the U.S. since the age of three without citizenship and was very afraid of being deported during Donald Trump’s presidency. Thanks to this marriage, in 2020 the man received a green card and was able to visit his native Mexico for the first time in 30 years to see his relatives. The couple is currently going through a divorce but remain on friendly terms.
A significant portion of the episode is devoted to the unique aspects of queer culture in a big city. The characters discuss how apps (Grindr, Sniffies) have become a way to explore the city’s geography. Mitya admitted that at one point he was spending all his earnings on Uber rides to get to partners in different parts of New York City.
The discussion also touched on themed sex parties, such as “Rice Queen” (where people of different races come together), which can attract up to 400 participants at a time.
