Writers who address LGBT themes have announced that they are joining forces to form a unified organization, in order to stop “existing in isolation in different corners of the internet and the world.” The project has been named "The 'Rainbow Feather' Shelter".
Who joined the association?
The community was founded by four well-known authors:
- Elena Malisova and Katerina Silvanova — the authors of the acclaimed novel *Summer in a Pioneer Tie*.
- Alan Charoite — author of the fantasy series *Divnozerye*.
- Max Falk — author of the novel *Shattered*.
By words According to the creators, the goal of the project is to bring together those who write and read literature, "which doesn't fit into traditional frameworks", as well as work together to create and discuss stories that are important to them.
What are the community rules?
The authors emphasize that they are creating a “supportive space” where respect, empathy, and thoughtful dialogue are key values. At “The Shelter,” there is zero tolerance for hate speech.
The following are strictly prohibited in the community:
- Any form of discrimination (homophobia, transphobia, racism, sexism, ableism, etc.).
- The dehumanization of people and the justification of violence, repression, or military aggression.
- Support for Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
- Outings and the disclosure of others' personal information.
Violations of these rules are subject to Instant ban, no questions asked.
Communication Culture and AI
The organizers encourage participants to critique texts or opinions, but not to make personal attacks. Passive aggression, sarcasm, and attempts to belittle others are prohibited in the community. Participants are required to respect each other's names and pronouns.
An interesting feature of “The Shelter” is its stance on modern technology: the use of AI in creative work is not encouraged. Text and images generated by neural networks will be removed by moderators.
According to the authors, the main goal of the project is to ensure that participants feel “at ease, safe, and at home.”
