Google searches have become an integral part of our daily lives. Whether it's on a smartphone, a computer, or by voice input through Google Assistant, all the questions that come to our minds will be answered thanks to a huge database. Today, we have instant access to more information than at any time in human history. Advances in artificial intelligence will radically change the way we use this information: they could provide new insights that can help us in our daily lives and in solving complex global problems.
How Google Search Works
Let's say you want to decorate your apartment and want to learn more about acrylic paints. A search for "Acrylic paint" will help Google understand how people typically feel about the topic and point out the aspects that people are likely to pay attention to first. For example, it can identify more than 350 topics related to acrylic painting and help you find the most suitable option for you. Or search through images and videos: insert a photo and circle a component you don't know the name of, or look for key moments in a video to find them right away. Google is always here to help.
However, this quest for knowledge runs counter to certain topics that require in-depth analysis that cannot yet be achieved with a search engine. Or there are some keywords that might seem intimidating. We have consciously abandoned pornographic images and compiled 9 types of searches that you should not search for on the Internet
9 Things You Shouldn't Look Up Online:
#1: How to Make a Bomb
The greatest classic among the things you can't search for on the Internet: searching for any illegal content, such as instructions on how to make a bomb, sell drugs, or other criminal activities. Not so much because you won't find the answer to your question, but because you'll make a lasting impression when the police knock on your door and check your computer.
#2: Diseases and Symptoms
A Google search for symptoms or illnesses is one of the worst things you can find on the internet. Any medical website (or supposed medical site) you find at the top of the search engine may give the impression that you have a more serious or mild illness than you expected. Or worse, the suspected diagnosis may be wrong and cause you anxiety and tension until your next physical exam. So it's definitely wise to stay away from searching for diseases on the internet.
#3: Miracle Diets
The same goes for nutrition: the miracle diet with which you can lose weight is probably not hidden somewhere on the Internet. It is much better to rely on the help of a real nutritionist and follow their directions to lose weight according to your needs; Forget about diets based on sweets or various weight loss mixtures that can greatly undermine your health.
#4: Sex Lessons & Guides
It's one thing to seek advice to impress, but sticking to a pre-established procedure is counterproductive. If you're uncomfortable, you can study all the tutorials in the world, but then it's unlikely that you'll enjoy sex at all.
#5: The Meaning of Life
Don't look for it, you'll get tangled up in a bunch of useless content because no one knows the answer to it. And there's a risk that you'll end up like in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and you'll only see the number 42.
#6: Death Clock
There are sites that "guess" the date of your death by specifying a random day on the calendar. Sure, it's a cheap gimmick, but it will stay in your memory forever and ruin your time until your supposed date.
#7: Intimate or Sexual Preferences on a Work Computer
The browsing history saved in your browser is merciless and can embarrass you, especially if you're doing similar research in your office or on your company's computer: system administrators can see the websites you visit, so be careful.
#8: Infestation of bed bugs and other pests in your own home
If it hooks a friend or acquaintance again, it is very disgusting. And the temptation to google "bed bug infestation" or "invasion of silverfish" too. Our advice: don't do it! After that, you will never be able to sleep in other people's beds or in a hotel again, I promise. You won't be able to get these pictures out of your head.
#9: Spoilers of Favorite TV Shows
Many of our favorite shows are previewed in the U.S. before airing. And a person, as a curious creature, is naturally tempted to know the result in advance, only to regret it again later. So those who do not want to lose the pleasure of movies and series for themselves should abandon the search on Google spoilers.
