2026 is truly the year of gay stories on the big screen. In 2026, films about gay culture will be released, ranging from passionate love stories to a zombie apocalypse and real-life stories inspired by personal triumphs and tragedies. Doberman Media has compiled a list of all the films (known as of the end of 2025) that will be released in the new year.
The movie "A Cry to Heaven"
Tom Ford impressed the queer audience with his film "The Lonely Man" (2009), as well as his latest work "Under the Cover of Night" (2016), and he has finally returned to the director's chair with a new film that, we suspect, will become a modern gay classic.

Ford is leading a project based on a very gay, very melodramatic, and very erotic work by Anne Rice "A Lament to Heaven" (Cry to Heaven). Singer Adele will play one of the leading roles, marking her acting debut. The book is set in 18th-century Venice, and the story centers on a Venetian aristocrat and a castrato opera singer.

And as if that weren't enough to build up our anticipation, the cast is a gay man's dream. The film will star Nicholas Holt, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Adele, Mark Strong, Hunter Schafer, Lux Pascal, and others.
Where to watch: In theaters starting in late fall 2026.
The movie "Pillion"
A Romantic BDSM Story "Pillion" (Задний бампер). In the film, Harry Melling plays Colin, a reserved and submissive gay man who catches the eye of Ray, a charismatic and domineering biker played by Alexander Skarsgård. Together, they embark on an erotic and romantic relationship full of intensity and passion.
Where to watch: In theaters starting in February.
Jimpa (Jimpa)
A touching queer film from 2026 — "Jim" . The film tells the story of Hannah (Olivia Colman), who, along with her non-binary teenage daughter Frances (played by non-binary actress Od Mason-Hyde), travels to Amsterdam to spend a year with her gay grandfather, Jimpa (John Lithgow). Intergenerational queer identity and family drama? Oh yes, this movie is definitely going to make us cry.

This true story might just make our hearts dance this year. Another movie based on real events, "The Blazing Rainbow Farm" (Burning Rainbow Farm) tells the story of a gay couple, Rollie Ro (Leo Woodall) and Tom Crossline (Sebastian Stan), who are fighting to keep their marijuana and standing up to the FBI to protect their farm and family.
