Toxic masculinity is a social phenomenon in which traditional ideas about masculinity lead to negative consequences for both men and others. This phenomenon is closely related to homophobia, since any manifestations that go beyond the rigidly established norms of masculinity often cause aggression and hostility. As a result, men who seek to conform to these stereotypes may suppress their emotions, avoid being sensitive, and reject any signs that their behavior or preferences are different from the generally accepted ones, which in turn breeds resentment toward those who do not fit into these narrow frameworks.
Homophobia is fear, resentment, prejudice, or discrimination against people who identify as gay, bisexual, or other members of the LGBTQ+ community. This phenomenon can manifest itself in many forms, from ridicule and insults to physical violence and systematic discrimination.
