Ekaterina Mizulina, head of the Safe Internet League, asked the Ministry of Internal Affairs to investigate an interview given by blogger Igor Sinyak to journalist Ksenia Sobchak for possible LGBT propaganda (“the international LGBT movement” is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia). She stated this reported on his Telegram channel.
“I watched the video. It’s clearly a provocation on Ksenia Sobchak’s part—nothing new. What’s more, this nonsense was deliberately posted on Children’s Day. Is this a mockery of all the government’s efforts to protect children, or what?” — according to a statement by Ekaterina Mizulina.
"We have already asked the Ministry of Internal Affairs to investigate the dissemination of propaganda by the extremist LGBT movement," — added the head of the Safe Internet League. Ksenia Sobchak wrote on her Telegram channel in response that she and her team had not broken the law by publishing the interview with the blogger.
“Unlike Mizulina, I’m not going to file a complaint against anyone; I’ll just say this: there are people in our country who dress like Sinyak, too, and no one is accusing them of being LGBT. There is a clear law, and we haven’t broken it—there’s no propaganda of any kind or calls to action in the video. It’s just a conversation with a person—someone just like us, who simply dresses the way he likes.”, — she said.
In October 2023, a Moscow court fined Sinyak 200,000 rubles in a case involving LGBT propaganda on the internet. The specific reason for the citation was not disclosed at the time.
Igor Sinyak is a blogger; he previously ran his own YouTube channel about beauty, but decided to shut it down in 2021. His Telegram channel, which he runs as a personal blog, has over 146,000 subscribers. Sinyak currently lives in France. An interview with him was posted on Ksenia Sobchak’s channel on June 1.
