Identity House
About
A volunteer organization providing free peer psychological support “by LGBTQ+ people, for LGBTQ+ people,” based at The Center. A walk-in center offering one-time individual sessions, short-term counseling, and support groups focused on sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, alienation, relationships, and family. Volunteer counselors use active listening and share their own experiences; after a session, they may provide referrals for further work with professional psychotherapists. Services are free or available for a voluntary donation (about $25 per session for those who can afford it). For adults aged 18 and over. This is peer support, not a substitute for professional therapy.
