Why does everything go to hell, when will it all end, and how to stop worrying and find reasons to rejoice in this apocalyptic atmosphere? Probably, everyone asks these questions.
People are always hoping that it will be better. It's kind of nice, you know, to look to the future with optimism. Wake up in the morning and wait for what a pleasant surprise the Universe has prepared for you today. This year clearly shows that all these hopes are in vain.
Who made a wish to the chimes that in 2024 everything would be fine and everything would work out, has never guessed.
Because everything is bad. And, characteristically, in general.
To begin with, the whole world has fallen into a feverish embrace Monkeypox, Trump, economic crisis, war, discrimination on the basis of nationality and language.... Entire nations are hysterical. Markets just collapsed. And all at once. The same cannot be said about Bitcoin, which has skyrocketed. The poor investor literally has nowhere to go. Everywhere there is a war, a crisis and Trump, no one wants to work or buy. Only manufacturers of military equipment and funeral service offices are in profit. That's for whom every terrible news is a holiday.
Nassim Taleb's black swans fly over the continents with wild laughter. Let's not forget what smart people have been waiting for a long time.
Trump came to power. And before that, Putin, having reset the term of his presidency, unleashed a war, attacked a neighboring state, and forced the whole world to become Russophobes, finally shattered the myth of democracy with his scepter.
Let's also not forget that the climate is warming globally, the ice is melting as... like ice! Yes, that's how they melt! Only very quickly, as one brave Swedish girl warned us about. In general, it remains only for Buzova to give birth to a joint album with Baskov, and it will be possible to finally state the arrival of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
In these anxious days, everything goes as if according to the script of a good movie in the cyberpunk genre. Humanity has been developing and developing, but instead of general prosperity, we have chaos and obscurantism.
Why is that?
As the king of Mufasa said to the smart lion cub Simba: "We are all connected in the great circle of life."
Viruses fly around the world freely, like the wind. The markets are common. Companies are intertwined by supply chains. The decisions of one country to attack a neighbor immediately affect the world as a whole. In this single organism, which is human society, no problem is local. The effect of a butterfly in the flesh.
But people continue to behave as if they live in an isolated mountain village, guarding it from everything alien and incomprehensible, ready to raise any stranger on a pitchfork.
In fact, the root of evil is not in Putin, who has become a modern Hitler, not in the Chinese, from whom the coronavirus originated, and not in the Africans, where monkeypox is now coming from. Today the trouble flew from Russia, tomorrow again in the Celestial Empire, the day after tomorrow it will be born again in Africa, after the day after tomorrow - in Belarus. We are all interconnected and interdependent. Let's recall the cult series of the nineties: "We have been together since the first grade, and we are also responsible for everything we do together".
There is no right or wrong here. It's just such a year. What to do about it? Nothing! What's the point of buying pasta and sitting at home? What is to be is inevitable.
I look at my Facebook feed, and no, no, no, happy faces flash against the background of the general hysteria.
Do you have any thoughts on this? Maybe we'll stop shaking hands forever. Perhaps the world economy will make a breakthrough or a new Great Depression will come. None of this matters.
We are still alive.
We have relatives and friends. There are parents, children and good friends. There is a warm wind, morning coffee and luxurious sunsets. And they are better than Tuscan, I insist.
There will always be something wrong. But there will also be something that fills the days with meaning, and at night makes the heart beat faster. You will see: time will pass, and we will remember this period in history with warmth. Because only the good always remains in the memory.
