News for everyone who likes to be prepared for anything – the EU recommends its citizens to stock up for emergencies. In case of war or another major emergency, EU residents are advised to stock up on food and items that will help them last at least 72 hours. The report was published as part of Europe's new civil and military preparedness strategy, which writes Newsweek.
What is included in the list?
- Food and water (something you definitely can't live without).
- Medications (if something happens, it's best to have a first aid kit on hand).
- Flashlights and batteries (because the light can disappear at the most unexpected moment).
- Radio receivers (to be aware of what is happening, even if there is no Internet).
Who is behind this?
Among the authors of the report is former Finnish President Sauli Niinistö, who now holds the position of Special Adviser to the President of the European Commission. They emphasize: the pandemic and military aggression have shown that the EU was not ready for such challenges and it is time to change the approach from "late response" to proactive preparedness.
Why is this important?
The main threats are everything that can shake the peace of EU citizens: from new pandemics to natural disasters and military conflicts. Particular attention in the report is paid to the possible military threat from Russia, and the authors do not hide the fact that this forces a revision of the entire security strategy of Europe.
"We do not have a clear plan for what the EU will do in the event of armed aggression against a member state. The threat of war from Russia calls into question the security of Europe and forces us to consider this issue as a central element of our preparedness, while not forgetting to prepare for other serious threats," the report says.
What to do and how to behave if the war starts tomorrow
What other measures have been proposed?
- Increase intelligence sharing between EU countries.
- Направить не менее 20% бюджета ЕС на укрепление безопасности и готовность к кризисам.
This report is a reminder that anticipating and preparing is not to panic, but to stay safe.
Remind us that Doberman.media magazine prepared by a large material in case of military operations. We advise you to read it:
