Why do men cheat?

One of the relevant topics in any relationship, which will never lose its relevance, unfortunately, is infidelity. Each of us has faced this phenomenon, in one direction or another, and sometimes has been in two roles at the same time. 

Paradoxically, no one likes to be deceived, but history repeats itself over and over again.

The men's magazine Doberman.media draws attention to the causes and consequences of male infidelity, in the hope that this will help readers reflect on this aspect of relationships, better understand themselves, their partners and, as a result, help neutralize infidelity in any type of relationship. Or at least reduce the trauma from experiencing infidelity.

These data are average, and if we take into account the specifics of the study, we can assume that not everyone told the truth or told it only partially. I think the real numbers will be higher than stated.

Causes of men's infidelity

Emotional dissatisfaction

Men may feel that their emotional needs are not being met in their current relationships. This includes a lack of support, understanding, or attention from a partner.

Sexual dissatisfaction

Some men cheat because of a mismatch in sexual needs with a partner, which can include the frequency of sexual contact, sexual preference, and quality of intimacy.

Search for novelty

The desire to experience something new and avoid routine can push men to cheating. This may be due to the natural human desire for variety and new sensations.

Psychological aspects of infidelity 

Low self-esteem

Men with low self-esteem may seek confirmation of their importance through external relationships. This can be a way to boost your confidence and sense of self-worth.

Desire to assert oneself

For some men, multiple sexual partners are a way to establish themselves in their eyes and in the eyes of others as a "real man."

Fear of aging

Middle-aged men may cheat to feel younger and more attractive, especially if they have a fear of aging and losing their sex appeal.

Consequences of infidelity

1. Cheating often leads to the breakup of relationships or marriages. Distrust, resentment, and frustration may be too strong to overcome.
2. Cheating can lead to significant psychological consequences for both parties. The affected partner may experience depression, anxiety, and trust issues in future relationships. Also, do not forget about the impact of family crises on the psychological state of children.

Prevention of infidelity

1. Regular communication, emotional support, and understanding each other's needs can strengthen relationships and reduce the risk of infidelity.
2. Openly discussing sexual needs and finding compromises in intimate life can help avoid dissatisfaction.
3. Turning to professional therapists and counselors can help couples cope with relationship problems and prevent infidelity.
