Meet for coffee with no hidden agenda, get a group together for board games, talk about moving, or simply open up to guys who understand your situation without needing a lengthy explanation.
It can be hard to find this kind of connection on dating apps—they tend to focus more on quick dates than on close-knit community and friendship. For those looking for meaningful conversations and a safe environment, there is “Mayak” —a community project that has been creating welcoming spaces for LGBTQ+ people since 2015.
The team has grown from providing local support into a vast ecosystem. And what they do impeccably above all else is provide safety and peer support.
Here’s what Mayak currently offers specifically for men (gay and bisexual men, trans men, and nonbinary people):
⚡️ Online Speed Dating
A moderated, welcoming, and dynamic way to meet new guys:
• October 18 (10:00 Moscow time) — Speed dating for the entire LGBTQ+ community
💬 Private regional chats: your people in your area
Mayak has launched a network of local chats for finding friends, mutual support, and connecting over shared interests. It's a place where you no longer have to feel alone.
🔒 How is it kept secure? For security reasons, the lists of cities are not publicly available. Every member goes through a manual, step-by-step verification process with a coordinator. No personal data collection — just an in-person introduction to weed out spam and troublemakers.
🗣 Men's groups and October events (theme of the month: “Coming Out”):
• Men's support group — a conversation in a safe circle about men's experiences, acceptance, and realities (October 17, 14:00 Moscow time).
• Group for transgender and non-binary people (October 17, 12:00 Moscow time).
• Language clubs (English, Deutsch, Español) and regular online Pride Café meetups.
