A tongue-in-cheek project called the “People’s Republic of Birkin” (PRB) is rapidly gaining traction on TikTok. Its central figure is Baroness Igorevna Sinyak. It is the latest meme based on blogger Igor Sinyak: using AI, his face and persona are transformed into a stern woman in a business suit who “governs” a fictional country dedicated to Hermès Birkin bags.
The project already has its own national symbols. The republic’s official flag features orange, white, and brown stripes, with the main symbol of statehood at its very center—the legendary bag Hermès Birkin framed by a star and a laurel wreath. The country has its own constitution, ministries, and even an official anthem “Glory to Birkinia! Proud land!”. Meanwhile, the state’s historical mythology proudly commemorates Birkinia’s liberation from the “Balenciaga regime” (there is even a “Liberation of Birkinia” monument).

The video featuring the republic's national anthem has already garnered more than 100,000 views. The project's creators continue to release videos and images: an official portrait of the president at his desk, a map of landmarks (Hermès Boutique Square, the Presidential Palace of Birkinia, the Birkin River, the Hermès Museum, Hermès Gardens Park, and the Heights of Birkinia Observation Deck), as well as posters detailing the republic's “citizenship” requirements and cultural values.
The “entry” requirements for the PRB are as follows:
- Obtain a visa through the expedited “for luxury connoisseurs” program.
- Provide proof of financial means (preferably in the form of Hermès bags).
- Declare a love for beauty, fashion, and a high quality of life.
- Show loyalty to the values of the republic, its leader, and the Hermès brand.
It is all presented with a touch of irony and the signature orange aesthetic. No serious politics or profound satire—just a meme that resonated with the TikTok audience.
