According to the latest Gallup poll, in 2025 9,0% взрослых жителей США identified as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or of other orientations other than heterosexual. This indicator shows rapid growth: it more than doubled since 2012, when Gallup first began making such measurements (then it was 3.5%).

Growth dynamics and identification structure
The percentage of LGBTQ+ Americans has grown steadily over the past decade, from 4.5% in 2017 to 7.1% in 2021, reaching the current high of 9.0%.

Gender, political and geographical differences

There are also significant differences in political views and place of residence:

Methodology
The results are based on telephone interviews conducted in 2025 with a representative sample of 13,454 adults in all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. The margin of error for the overall sample is ±1 percentage point at a 95 percent confidence level.
