Moscow City Court Judge Tatyana Mikhaleva banned the human rights Center T and put it on the list of "extremist". This was demanded by the Ministry of Justice. The organization has been operating since 2020 and helps trans people in Russia.
In 2023, she was included in the register of "foreign agents", and later the court decided to block the site in the country due to the alleged propaganda of "non-traditional" relationships. How to notes SotaVision, then during one of the meetings, several people sprayed pepper spray in the direction of the support group of the "Center T". One of the attackers was detained, it turned out to be a minor.
The organization has become at least the eighth of those whose activities are related to the protection of the rights of queer people and has been banned by Russian courts in similar lawsuits in recent days.
At the end of April, the Yaroslavl Regional Court added the Callisto movement to the list of "extremist". The decision stated that its activities were aimed at "reshaping and actually destroying fundamental Russian spiritual and moral values." Earlier, a criminal case was opened against the leader of Callisto, Yaroslav Sirotkin, for violating the duties of a "foreign agent", but now it has been suspended. At the same time, the organization itself has not previously been included in the register of "foreign agents".
In just April 22, similar decisions have been made in relation to the Russian LGBT Network, Irida, the Coming Out group, the LGBT Resource Center in Yekaterinburg, the Parni+ media and the Moscow Community Center for LGBT+ Initiatives. The court also continues to consider the case against NSK's T9 initiative.
The pressure on associations defending the rights of queer people may be related to the recent decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, which considered the non-existent "International LGBT Movement" "extremist".
