Leader of the American metalcore band Beartooth Caleb Shomo and his wife Fleur Shomo decided to dissolve the marriage. This happened a few months after the 33-year-old musician publicly announced his homosexuality.
According to court documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on July 13, the couple agreed to divorce by mutual consent. Caleb and Fleur married in April 2012, the couple has no children.
The divorce proceedings began shortly after Shomo published an Instagram post on May 23 in which he described himself as a "proud gay." According to the musician, he has been trying to understand his feelings for a long time and understand what to do with it.
How Caleb Shomo told his wife about it
In June, on the air of the podcast "Disrespectfully", Shomo shared the details of how his conversation with his wife went. The musician admitted that it was extremely difficult for him to find the words:
"I just sobbed, trying my best to put my feelings into words, and it is always difficult for me," he said.
The decision to speak came to him in his heart when he literally "slapped himself in the face" and said it was time to be honest.
Shomo confessed to his wife that he had feelings for men and could no longer forbid himself to explore this part of his personality, as he felt that "someone else" was hidden inside him, who was his real self.

The reaction of the wife and fans
Fleur Shomo also commented on the situation on social networks. She called this period "disorienting and painful" for both, but stressed that she would always "love, protect and support Caleb."
The musician himself noted that the reaction of others to his coming out was mixed: "Someone supports it, someone does not."
"I spent a decade burying my feelings in alcohol," the artist admitted.
According to Shomo, the path to realizing his identity took him years. Only by deciding to give up alcohol and focusing on the causes of his inner discomfort was he able to come to terms with his sexuality and embark on the path of self-love.
Caleb also reevaluated the band’s work. He noted that Beartooth’s first four albums were filled with self-loathing, depression, and hopelessness, reflecting his struggle with his religious upbringing and self-hatred. “Sometimes I even feel embarrassed that I didn’t allow myself to get to the root of my problems for so long,” the musician added.
Caleb Shomo founded Beartooth in 2012. Since then, the band has released five studio albums. Now the band is preparing for the release of a new album called «Pure Ecstasy», which is scheduled for release in August. Several singles from the new album are already available on streaming platforms.
